The work responds to a realisation of the contradictions involved with body image and knowledge of the self and moves onto a more specific awareness of female body image. The figures are placed in ambiguous locations, in unspecified situations. The viewer is initially provoked to consider the nature of the scene intruded upon. Placed into position of voyeur, the spectator is aware of events beyond those documented on the canvas. The spectator becomes aware of a narrative surrounding the apparently private happening presented. This potentially directs thought processes beyond the visuals offered.
