Facilities & Workshops at Coventry Artspace

At present there are 11 studio spaces which are rented by members. [For membership details see membership page]. Periodically a studio becomes available. Studio space is also offered as part of the bursary programme to Artists In Residence at Artspace. We are currently working with Coventry City Council and ACE West Midlands to improve and redevelop the Artspace premises in order to provide more shared facilities, widening the constituency of professional artists we are able to support.

Facilities currently available for hire to community groups: Kiln, Community Room (floorspace approx. 9m x 7m) suitable for drawing classes, exhibitions, workshops or rehearsals. For more details, contact the Artspace office.

Arty-Folks is for people who are recovering from mental health problems and mental stress, and who are interested in the visual arts. You do not need any previous experience of art, total beginners and people who just want to have a go are welcome, as well as people who might consider joining accredited courses in future. Since 1996, Arty-Folks has been offering weekly visual arts workshops run by professional artists. The workshops are fun, focused, educational, creative and challenging. At Arty-Folks you will find a supportive community of people from similar backgrounds, and artists who will encourage you to develop your personal artistic interests and to find your own individual expression. Please note that Arty-Folks does not offer counselling or art therapy. Email Arty-Folks

Clay & Fire is a friendly and informal weekly ceramics workshop, run from 7-9.30pm every Monday evening. It is lead by member artists and welcomes both complete beginners, or those who have some experience of ceramics but have no access to a studio or wish to meet other practitioners. The cost is £2 each week which includes materials and firings, except in the case of unusually large pieces which may incur extra charge, and the help and advice of the workshop leaders. Several outdoor raku firings are also organised each year, and a community event in the city centre is currently being planned. Email Val Mitchell or Angie Atkins.
